The other day I was ordering some new additions to my Space Marine army and was trying to figure out if I wanted to order another BattleForce or not. They’re definitely a great deal, but how much of a deal? I decided to crunch some numbers. Most importantly, what are the savings per unit via buying in a Battleforce versus separately? Turns out they’re actually fairly substantial. Purchased separately, the total force would come out to about $131 dollars. Going the wholesale route cuts the cost of a Rhino down to about $20, as shown here:
| Unit | List $ | % Battleforce | Battleforce $ |
| Assault Squad | 26.5 | 20.15 | 18.14 |
| Tactical Squad | 35 | 26.62 | 23.95 |
| Combat Squad | 20 | 15.21 | 13.69 |
| Scout Squad | 20 | 15.21 | 13.69 |
| Rhino | 30 | 22.81 | 20.53 |
| Total | 131.5 | 100 | 90 |
So, if that’s a good deal, how good of a deal is it per unit if you have a discount on the Battleforce? The following table relates prices under 30% and 20% discounts to the original price. Notably, at a relatively rare 30% discount, the Battleforce cuts the price of each unit to just over better than half.
| Unit | List $ | % Battleforce | Battleforce $ | 30% Discount | 30% Discount Battleforce $ | 20% Discount | 20% Discount Battleforce $ |
| Assault Squad | 26.5 | 20.15 | 18.14 | 18.55 | 12.7 | 21.2 | 14.51 |
| Tactical Squad | 35 | 26.62 | 23.95 | 24.5 | 16.77 | 28 | 19.16 |
| Combat Squad | 20 | 15.21 | 13.69 | 14 | 9.58 | 16 | 10.95 |
| Scout Squad | 20 | 15.21 | 13.69 | 14 | 9.58 | 16 | 10.95 |
| Rhino | 30 | 22.81 | 20.53 | 21 | 14.37 | 24 | 16.43 |
| Total | 131.5 | 100 | 90 | 92.05 | 63 | 105.2 | 72 |
Definitely tempting, but for the record in the end I did not order another box. I wanted another Rhino but can make do without, and couldn’t justify the shelve space of another Battleforce box given how many incomplete minis I already have laying around…
